If there are any scouts and or adults that are planning to come with us this weekend to Vicksburg but weren't able to attend last night's meeting, please let me know ASAP. I will be buying the food this evening and want to make sure that we're prepared for the correct number of people. If there is an additional driver with a pick up truck, please be sure to let me know. Thanks.
One note for the Webelos that are planning to come with us this weekend. If you didn't came on the Pioneering trip last month then there won't be the $25 charge this time, however, if you did come last month then you will be required to pay the fee. Let me know if there are any questions.
We need a couple more volunteers to help with the Fish Fry tomorrow (Friday) night. Right now we only have Roy M. (THANKS ROY!). Mr. Connell would like to have two or three additional boys, please.
That's it.

Please be prepared for the hiking trip this weekend:
* Good fitting shoes or boots. Broken in - not new
* Wool or wool blend socks - 2 pairs. Need to change socks during lunch break
* Sock liners - 2 pairs - socks and liners keep feet dry from moisture (recommended)
* Day pack (school backpack)
* Water - at least 32 oz
* Nutritional snacks - granola, protein snack bars - no candy
* Rain poncho or jacket
* Multiple layers of clothing for cool morning and warmer afternoon
* Flashlight or headlamp (required for the cross country hike)
* Walking stick (suggested)
* Personal first aid kit (including mole skin and tape for blisters)
* Hat & sunscreen
* Compass (required for cross country hike)
Due to all the rain that Vicksburg has received over the past few days, it is suggested that all those older boys (14 and older) that wish to do the cross country hike may want to waterproof your shoes. Boys and adults not participating in the cross country hike will be walking the road around the park so comfortable shoes, with good padding, is suggested.
Please be sure to bring a bag dinner for the drive Friday evening. We will not be stopping for a meal but will for pit stops only. The troop will eat group meals Saturday and Sunday morning.
As a reminder, we'll meet at St. Andrews at 5 pm Friday and depart by 6 pm. Bring your $25 and Class A uniform for the drive.
We will review all this again Wednesday and any questions you may have.

TROOP 64
BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA
March 2, 2009
Dear Parents:
The dates for this year’s Summer Camp are June 14 – 20, 2009. We are returning to Salmen Scout Reservation this year as a continuation of our support for our Council’s camp. This will be the second summer camp in a row for Salmen and is due to the outstanding program and experience the boys had in 2008. We will leave New Orleans Sunday, June 14th and return Saturday, June 20th. This year, the cost for each boy is $195 and $60 for each adult leader registered by the May 1st Early Bird Deadline. The price has increased since 2008 so be sure to take advantage of the discounted price with the early bird deadline. There will also be a $50 travel fee per scout that will be due as noted below. We are still trying to finalize our midweek activity so this fee may be revised in the future. The fee is to be paid in cash. The payment schedule for summer camp is as follows:
First Payment $80.00 Due March 18th
Second Payment $80.00 Due April 8th
Final Payment $35.00 Due April 29th
Travel Fee (tent) $50.00 Cash Due June 6th
Please note that there are a handful of merit badge classes, or activities, which may have additional fees, such as: Mountain Man: $25 and COPE: $15; Archery: $3, Basketry: $6 - $10, Indian Lore: $4 - $15, Leatherwork: $1 - $19, Muzzle-loader Rifle: $30, Rifle Shooting: $12, Sculpture, Shotgun Shooting: $20, and Woodcarving: $3. The fees for these merit badges may change without notice. We will let you know if there are any other classes that include additional fees.
As noted above, adult leader fees this year are $60. All leader fees will be due no later than April 29th.
We would like any family that feels these fees are not affordable, but still want their son to be able to go to summer camp, to please contact me, and we will work out some type of plan which will allow them to be able to attend. “We will not leave any boy behind that wants to be at summer camp”.
Please note the schedule of upcoming events:
March 20th – 22nd – Hiking the National Military Park, Vicksburg, Ms (Friday afternoon departure)
March 29th – Spring Court of Honor, 3pm, St. Andrew’s Cafeteria
April 18th – 19th - LIHA Pow Wow, Gonzales, LA (monthly camping trip)
Thank you for your help and support of Troop 64 throughout 2008. We’re looking forward to a very successful return to Salmen Scout Reservation this year.
Sincerely,
Mr. Dan

Attached is our first letter regarding Summer Camp.
It includes the dates (6/14-20), price $195, and payment schedule. Please be sure to read and review the letter and let me know if you have any questions. We are looking forward to another fun and successful Summer Camp and want every scout to attend with us. Please set these dates aside, for you and your son. Remember that updated physicals will be needed from all adults each year the boys if they haven't seen a doctor in three years. If new forms are needed they are located on our website. Follow the link below.
We will be distributing the list of available merit badge classes very soon so be on the lookout.
Thanks for registering early.
