11/9/09 Weekly Update
At this week's meeting, we will be looking at:
1) This weekend's camping trip: finalizing our attendee list and drivers plus the menus and shopping lists
2) Handing out Pancake Breakfast tickets. Don't forget there will be prizes for the top sellers, including cash prizes and a pizza party - so start planning your sales - family, neighbors, teachers, friend, parent's work, etc.
3) Winter camp is Dec 26th - 30th - we need to collect registration forms and payments. There is a 10% discount on the registration fee of $100 for all scouts that attended summer camp. Be sure to order a tee shirt.
4) Family Life Merit Badge will meet this week at 6:00 pm

We are getting to a busy time of year so please read the troop's emails so you can stay on top of several very important activities for the troop.

1) Our next trip is scheduled for November 14th & 15th. We're still working to finalize the plans but we will definitely be going camping that weekend.

2) Winter Camp is December 26th - 30th (these are the same dates every year - no matter what days of the week they fall on) at Salmen Scout Reservation. Attached is the prelimary Leader's Guide. We will be passing out registration forms at the upcoming Wednesday's meetings, or if you wish, you can print out the last page and complete and send it with your son to Wednesday's meeting. The cost per scout is $100 so please send the payment (make payable to Troop 64), too. To make Winter Camp work is having adult participation, therefore, we are looking for adults that can participate for part or all of the dates. Please let me know ASAP what dates you can attend so we can ensure we have enough adults. Payments and registration forms have to be turned in to Council no later than November 30th. Winter Camp will be open to the first 300 scouts that register with payment. Winter Camp has been extremely successful the past two or three years so we should expect to see it sell out very quickly so quick decisions are necessary. Please don't send your registration forms to the Council offices, turn in to me and I will turn them all in together. We'll have request forms for merit badges at Wednesday's too.

3) Our annual Pancake fundraiser will be Sunday, December 6th, therefore, we will be handing out each scout's allocation of 10 adult and 10 youth tickets at NEXT week's meeting. Parents, please help your son to keep track of their tickets. They will be responsible for every ticket they are given - including payment to the troop if lost. Each boy is responsible for selling their allocation - please remember, this is our annual major fundraiser. In addition to selling on their own (family, friends, neighbors, teachers, co-workers, etc.) we will be selling tickets before and after the masses Saturday & Sunday, November 28th & 29th.

Thank you to everybody for your help and support.

Mr. Dan

Don't forget to come to tomorrow's meeting if you plan to come with us this weekend t(Oct 10th -11th) to Salmen Scout Reservation. We need to get a final count of scouts and adults that will be attending and driving. Since I won't be able to come this weekend we need to make sure we have enough drivers so please be sure to come tomorrow.

We will be meeting Saturday morning at 7 am, as usual. Be sure to bring your usual camping gear, bag lunch, drink, water bottle, $25 plus spending money. Be sure to check the weather for this weekend and plan for rain showers. Return will be around 12:30 pm to 1 pm Sunday.

Be sure to bring your questions Wednesday.
Thanks. Mr. Dan
